Supermarket Halloween

These pumpkins are in the window of Waitrose supermarket. I don't know much about halloween. Do you eat the pumpkins or just decorate them?
I do know kids go trick and treating. They were all buying sweets in vivid orange, green or black!

The witch hats make it a complete Halloween photo!

Some of the best desserts are made from pumpkins! And normally the pumpkin is "carved" not just decorated. Carved is where you cut a hole in the top, scoop out the inside of the pumpkin (where the seeds and fibers are) and then carve a picture of something on the front.

Here is a blog with some carvings:

That looks like many of the displays you find in supermarkets around here.

Lots of pumpkin pies, cakes, cookies, bread, soup, (even ice cream!) this time of year on this side of the Atlantic.

13 C, eh? We are a bit warmer (17 C).

Cheers! :)

One doesn't _have_ to carve a pumpkin for Halloween. But many do.

When I make Pumpkin Pie, I prefer to get my pumpkin, out of a can. ,-)
