Marble Arch

Designed by John Nash and built in 1828. Orginally the main entrance to Buckingham Palace but was moved here as an entrance to Hyde Park after Palace extentions in 1851.

Delightful symmetry. Those beautiful bas-reliefs would seem to be life size. Are they?

If you look closely in the background you can see a double decker London bus. That gives a better indication as to how big the arch is.
