After nearly a 100 years the Spencer town house has been restored to its former glory. Built between 1756 and 1766 for the first Earl of Spencer. Partly designed in Roman style and partly in Greek style. Flashy and intended to flaunt the wealth of its owner. It is the only grand town house of its kind that survived the bombing of London. The garden is only open to the public 2 days a year. Lord Rothschild is who we thank for the restoration, faithful to the original design.

You must know, dear friend, how much I love London. I must go there before I die. I have always liked your accent. To be sincere I have always preferred it to north american english.
Greetings from Barcelona.

Gorgeous building. Are the stables now used as garages?
Beautiful photo!! As always.
That looks ever so familiar! I think I may have been there a few years ago. Having said that, so many of these grand houses look similar that I can't be sure. Lovely photo.
It is nice to know that old buildings like this one a still cared for. Great photo.
Lovely photo!
I had a house just like that, for weekend getaways...but I had to get rid of it for something bigger.

Very palladian, isn't it? But it is beautiful.
