This is beautiful. Why should these kinds of buildings be ugly? We have to see them every day, so it's a good thing when they're built to please the eye.
Well it used to be. This is the now disused Abbey Mills sewer treatment plant. A interesting history can be found here.

Such an ornate treatment plant. Would be an interesting tour inside. I wonder why it hasn't become an office or workshop.
The Victorians built some beautiful utilitarian buildings - shame we can't do the same.

It does look like a church tower! Unusual for a sewer treatment plant, to say the least.
