He didn't fit the stereotypical classical musician, upsetting many with his style and appearance.
He played here at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000 with the Who. Later released on an album Live at the Royal Albert Hall.

September 5th 1989 – U.S. President George H. W. Bush holds up a bag of cocaine purchased across the street at Lafayette Park, in his first televised speech to the nation. Mmmmmmm makes you wonder. Why would he purchase cocaine? Help him through the ordeal?
On a less noteworthy note,
U2 were in Perth, Western Australia.
Of course I Googled.
Four Seasons - Four Homes
Winter:
The end of the year, the end of friendships and acquaintances, the end of life in Welwyn Garden City as the family packed up and we moved to the seaside. Farewell to the house where I had grown up, with schools at either end of the road, everybody a familiar face and 18 years of experience.
Spring:
Rebirth of the family into a small, rented terrace handily located for the chosen school of the younger brother. Start of our relationship with Felixstowe. Start of new courses and lessons and friendships for him. Start of preparing for the bigger world for me.
Summer:
Flowering of the family with a further move across town three weeks later to the house we had actually purchased. A frantic few days of unpacking and repacking for me, with little time to get my bearings or catch my breath.
Autumn:
The last weekend of the month and a move once again. This time to a hall of residence in Derby to commence life as a student. Like a leaf, I fell from the family tree and began a new chapter on my own.
That was September 1989 for me.
It's always been one of my favorites.
Konnichiwa! I just came down from my library bookshelf after finding my dairy from September 1989. I traveled from my small, countryside resort town of Gero, one of Japan's three most famous hot spring bath towns, to Osaka, Japan's third largest city, on September 14. 'Twas an amazing few days for me as a young American English teacher to explore and experience Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara! Subarahkata desu ne!
I love Vivaldi . . . .
September 1989. I started my senior year of high school and all I could really think about was applying to colleges and the chance to get out of my small Midwestern (US) town.
september 1989.
let's see...i was barely old enough to hold up my own own head....
i'm sure it was a great month for me. :)
9 September 1989, my birthday. I was twenty years younger, unmarried, full of hopes and dreams. What about now? Do you really want to know? I'm 20 years older, married with two teenage sons...full of dreams and hopes!
You are more competition filled than the quiz channel!
September 1989 - after a year at senior school I realised I didn't like it!
Now we know how many holes it takes.
Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation album was released in September 1989. That was the most significant thing that happened in America that month! :D
September 1989, finishing university, waiting for my final exams, touring with the English Drama Group, witnessing people from Eastern Germany escaping to Prague and Hungary, what in the long run would grow to be a major historical event for Germany and maybe the world, listening to a punk playing Vivaldi ...
This is such a great post!
What on earth did i do 20 years back??
(I wish I was as organized as Leif, who has kept his diaries over the years.)
Anyway, that time I looked like a puddle.... with permanent, and curly short hair.
My God, photos from that period have been hidden for years!
My body is 20 years older, but with what ever life has given me, inside I very often feel the same. My hair has turned nearly the same color as my surname....
But I guess The main thing is that life has shown me what is IMPORTANT and what is not!
I found a little youtube..... just to remember what it was like that time, music and fashion vice.. If you look carefully, you might see the marketplace and the Cathedral here in STAVANGER...... “Optimisme” (optimism) the title of the song, is what is essential for all of us, no matter what life comes up with!
The classical music was nice, thanks to “youtube” again.
Whoever wins the CD will receive something nice to listen to.

The most important facts for me in 1989:
June 1989: Finally got my degree in Italy and Germany. Also my first permanent job as a translator/interpreter.
3rd October 1989: The Fall of the Berlin Wall (I used to live in Germany then). Finally saw my friends from East Berlin and Dresden coming over to the West to visit and be together in a free country (my friend Uli ate strawberries for the first time in her life! And she was 20!)
Lovely music! Vivaldi is the best! Ciao. Antonella
Beginning of a new Era, both for me and my country. Personally - September 1st 1989 was my first day in school. We moved from our 4th floor apartment to a house in another part of the city where I could build tree houses and play in the garden. But most of all it was the end of communism. As a seven year old girl I didn't feel the magnitude of historic events. I just saw change from a perspective of a child. The invasion of bright colors - on the streets, in the grocery store, on tv, on clothing and toys... And loads of exciting new sweets to try. Talk about the advantages of democracy;)
Shite! I missed this one.
