The Parade Must Go On

Sunday was the Lord Mayor's Parade. Each year the newly elected Lord Mayor's procession makes its way through the streets of the city to the Royal Courts of Justice, where the new Lord Mayor pledges allegiance to the crown. Only once in 800 years has the parade been cancelled.
Despite the heavy rain and gusting wind it was a spectacular parade. I will bring you more pictures over the next couple of weeks. It really was worth being drenched and cold.

Looks like a wild and windy day. Don't often see umbrellas blown inside out!

I can almost feel that cold wind! It must have been a great parade if you stayed to watch in this weather.

To answer your question on my site, no I didn't buy anything this time.

It does indeed look as if everyone were drenched and cold! The wind seems to have driven the rain and cold right through their garments into the bones - bone-chilling!

800 years?? And only once canceled? Wow. Would you happen to know why? The wind here looks very strong already! Love the multicolored umbrellas.

They seem to grasp at the bar so as not to be blown away by the wind! Great pic! Wonderful colours!

I can practically hear the wind whistle. But all that color still looks sunny to me.

Great shot, really captures the struggle. I wonder why they have the parade in November - it's nearly always wet and cold.

I think I'd wait for a less windy day, although this photo is cool.
