Berlin Wall

After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 several panels were given to various institutions around the world.
These three panels, weighing 9 tonnes, were presented to the National Army Museum in Chelsea, London.

I was in high school when the wall came down and a friend of mine brought be back a small piece after she took a trip there. I still have it.

It astounds «Louis» how those of a certain (ahem) political viewpoint would like for us to forget the role Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher had in bringing the wall down.

Reagan even had to fight his own administration - the State Department fought vigorously to eliminate the phrase "Mr. Gorbachev, take down this wall" from Reagan's speech at the wall.

How that phrase came to be in the speech is told in Peter Robinson's "How Ronald Reagan Changed My Life". Robinson wrote most of the speech. The phrase actually came from an East German housewife.
