Canal Boats

This mode of transport has been around here since Roman times. Traffic jams on the waterways common. Not until trains were invented did this change. What will relieve the traffic jams on our roads do you suppose?

Very picturesqe.
I remember seeing loaded barges travelling the Medway in Kent - and a flying boat anchored there!
I wish I knew the answer to traffic jams - compulsory public transport within cities and towns?

Did I tell you that I used to live on a narrowboat? It forces you to have a very relaxed pace, certainly something I need from time to time!

Maybe if air traffic resumed, there'd be less traffic on the roads, non? Darn Icelandic volcano!

Transportation question aside, nice reflective image - a good candidate for the Weekend Reflections meme.

Jet packs! That's the only thing I can think of.

For some reason this shot makes me think you might be in Italy. I don't know why, because I've seen these boats on the canals in and around London many times before.

The depletion of fossil fuel reserves.

Didn't realize, duh, that the canal system went into London. Of course it would. Lovely photo.

This is such a lovely photo! I always love seeing you canal boats in movies and on TV :o)

As for less traffic jams...better public transportation. They're actually improving services a lot in Montreal and more and more people are riding the commuter trains, buses and subways.

I think traffic jams on the water have to be less stressful than on a roadway. How can you mind having to just float along for awhile?!
