Effie and the other girls at London Zoo are all in mourning at present. Yeboah their French man, whom they all adored, died last Thursday. He'd only been with them since November but was an instant hit. He moved over from Nantes to keep them company as they were missing Bobby so much since he'd died in 2008 at the age of 25.
Yeaboah died from a diabetes related problem. How can a gorilla suffer from diabetes? At present the zoo keepers are concerned for the girls well being.
There is hope that one of them may be pregnant. I'll keep you posted.

That is so sad. I love gorillas - they always seem like the gentler, untainted version of ourselves.
Ahhh, that's sad.
Aw man, that's just so sad! I know when one of my cats passed away, my other cat wouldn't eat or play for weeks. It's amazing how sensitive animals can be! I hope everything works out for these lovely ladies.
I guess gorillas have health problems just like people!
She looks so sad! I know how she feels since I am grieving the eventual loss of a friend who is dying in Mazatlan, Mexico.
The sadness of it is that the girls can't understand what has happened to their friend. All they know is that he has disappeared - so sad.
Ah how sad. The zoo near my home had a beautiful gorilla, Joe, for more than 40 years. He died back in Sept 08 and it made headline news locally in the press and on TV.
These primates are so amazing to look at, he would sit at the glas woindows of his enclosure and watch everyone with eyes that were so close to human

Gosh Joe was young. At least Yeaboah lived a bit longer.
