Yesterday morning the Bittern departed from Kings Cross station. A rare sight from a train that retired in 1967.
A brief post as I am racing to catch a plane. Over the next couple of weeks I may not have time to visit you but will do my best to leave you a picture.

I love old steam trains.
Amazing! I love such old steam trains too. It must be an extraordinary experience to go by this train.
Isn't that a beauty!
So you're leaving on a jet plane..... not the train..... Have a great time wherever you are going.

Enjoy your hols!
Fabulour photo. Wouldn't it be lovely to ride in it?! Enjoy your holiday.
Great pic. And I saw on the BBC news last week that some guy over there almost got run over by a train while train spotting.
Awesome!
Great shot! Cool.
Love the picture!
Though, I noticed that there are flowers next to the tracks and also the rails have wooden sleepers under them (which many places have replaced with concrete haven't they?) so I'm assuming this is one set of tracks that isn't used as much?
Wow!!!
Neat old train -- looks fantastical really. Enjoy your travels!
always nice to see a steam train in action. I think this is the one that Jeremy Clarkson worked on when he was racing Captain slow and the Hamster on Top Gear.
Is that the train to Hogwarts? ;)
Gosh, what an exquisite old train! Have a lovely trip wherever you are going and see you soon!
This apparently caused a field fire in he north. Nice shot!
