London has so many wonderful treasures tucked away and not widely known. Yesterday I discovered this fabulous tropical garden, with more then 2,000 species of plants, exotic fish, turtles and birds right in the middle of the city.Where? The Barbican.
The Barbican is the largest performing arts centre in Europe, slap bang in the middle of an estate. Music, theatre, art galleries, movie theatres, restaurants and this conservatory.
Also home to the London symphony orchestra and the BBC symphony orchestra.

Hard to imagine the tropics in London, but I'll take your word for it, Mo... and what a sweet bridge.
The Barbican is altogether a surprising place - I loved it .. but I missed this garden so will have to visit again.

I took my father to London in the fall of 2000 and we walked around the Barbican but, I didn't see this place. Too bad!

Really, this was in the Barbican area? Cool! I got lost there once when I went to London 2 years ago...its a pity I didn't see this.

I used to visit The Barbican with my parents about 25 years ago when they did free jazz sessions on a Sunday afternoon. While the adults sat around chatting and drinking wine, the kids used to go exploring. I don't remember all that foliage but I do remember feeding the biggest goldfish I had ever seen in my life (koi carp). I wonder are they still there?
Incrediable. It's amazing how much I miss whilst still living in London. I have been to the Barbican, however on school trips.. Not so fun. But I'm compelled to discover more. (:
