Protecting the Oceans

Well I assume that is her role. I found her on Trinity House, however I can't find any other information. Do you know anything about her?

Such good drapery in stone, apart from the more obvious female assets :-)
I like the way you make the image fade towards the edges.

Loved learning about the musical instruments and ice!!! Found a youtube video of Terje Isungset and Lena Nymark from London. Very interesting. I love to come to the city daily photo sites and learn about the rest of the world! Start listening at about 1:18-- if you are interested.

The only thing I know about her is that she's got great boobs and a washboard stomach I'd die for.

Beautiful statue. Given the location I would think she has something to do with the sea, shipping or ships. I wonder who she is?

I like how you have presented this. Somebody must know who she is - I'm intrigued. Half-naked in charge of a ship?

I think Northern Girl Knits has it about right. Whoever she is, she has it. Nice photo.

Ah, your research was blown off course almost straight away. This isn't Trinity House but the building next to it, which was built as the headquarters of the Port Of London Authority. Its construction was slowed by the First World War, it took a direct hit during the Second World War and was later converted to offices when the PofLA moved downstream. There are now plans to convert it to a six-star hotel.

The statue depicted in your vignetted image is the allegorical figure of "Navigation", although I too think her appearance is redolent of Britannia. On the wall that flanks the opposite side to the building's corner entrance is her counterpart, the male figure of "Commerce", the combination of the two, of course, making London the world's busiest and richest port at the time of this building's construction.

Someone must have a picture of Commerce? She deserves an equally well formed young man as her partner!
