Little Shop of Horrors

A treat for you today. This wee gem in Hackney describes themselves as "a 17th Century wunderkabinet". Don't expect PC here. Taxidermy everything from ravens to dogs with wings. Victorian erotica, medical props, two-headed teddies. Racks of furs and bloodied arms lay side by side. A ceramic doll sits at the table next to a lion while a creepy bug dangles near your face.
The Last Tuesday Society claims they have "everything for all your domestic needs".

I'm reading my new book about Walter Potter's museum which is nicer but just as creepy in its own way.

I think the taxidermy would do me in!

Yikes! Who would want a two-headed teddy or a bloodied arm? Well, I suppose I can guess at possible customers but how many conjoined twins or amateur surgeons are there in the world? (Don't answer that!)

This is absolutely wacky. I must visit it the next time we are in London. Now I understand why every ritual disemboweling requires a fez.

Should I send them my kangaroo jaw + teeth? Love the name of the shop.

Why are there not more shops like this? It would make exploring towns much more interesting.

It reminds me of the shop in the film 'Gremlins'. (Not that there are many parallels!)
