New Career for London's Pigeons

London's pigeons currently work hard at entertaining tourists. However government cuts in this sector will result in massive pigeon redundancies.

I'm considering a new enterprise to fill a gap in the market.Reliable couriers. Pigeon Post will be the answer. Why am I keen on this enterprise? Sheer frustration with current couriers!

Let me regale you with my latest experience.I sent a parcel to New Zealand. This is the journey of the parcel:London -> Paris -> China -> Singapore -> Australia and back to London! Pigeons just might have a better chance of getting a shot at least getting the right country.

What do you think?

  1. I think you're onto a winner, Mo! It does depend on the courier - ParcelForce is dreadful, FedEx much better - but I suppose any carrier relies on the competence of its employees and there are duds in every organisation;-)

  3. I have a feeling the pigeons could find the destination with more ease. What a crazy trip your package took!

  4. I agree with jabblog - it does depend on the courier. Standard government postal service is normally not so good.

  5. I find that parcels which come by Royal Mail come very promptly, but I haven't tried sending anything overseas.

  6. Well parcel is now on its way with Royal Mail. Two weeks with Fedex on a world tour, resulting in parcel at departure point. I had intended the parcel to be there in 3 days. Well Royal Mail say they will have it there in 4 and for a third of the price Fedex charged me. Fingers crossed, I'll keep you posted (so to speak)

  7. If Royal Mail doesn't get the job done, definitely hire a pigeon!

  9. I think your experience is, regrettably, a global one. However, most of the time I do think the courier services do a reasonably good job.

  11. Very funny. But you're right. Pigeons are reliable couriers in some countries.
