9 Elms

The US embassy has recently bought a large part of this area to build their new London headquarters. We're promised it will be styish and not a Bush-era-bunker.
The Covent garden flower market across the road from here will be demolished as part of the development. On my list to photograph for you before it goes.

  1. I've seen the plans. It's not too bad. This area could sorely do with redevelopment!

  5. Near the water, they would have a hidden entry point by the water, just like in those spy movies.

  6. They're demolishing a flower market? That's just plain scandalous!

  7. Yes, please do. Another wonderful landmark will be gone... so sad. Perhaps you will be posting them?

I am an American who recently visited London for the first time. I was shocked by the stark, harsh look of the existing embassy, and I am so glad to hear they have plans to relocate and change the look of things -- so glad!
