A peaceful spot in Guy's Hospital (Southwark) with a statue of Viscount Nuffield, a Victorian benefactor. The hospital one of the oldest in the world, its history dates back to 1170. A charitable hospital until coming under the National Health Service (NHS) in 1993. It survived the black plague, the war of the roses, the great fire of London, the blitz. Think I'll head straight there for the next major catastrophe!

Sounds like a good plan.
It looks very un-hospital-like! What a fascinating history, let's hope it continues and doesn't get bulldozed for some super modern place.
Great beautiful picture!
Yes, but...will it survive NHS reform?
Such an atmospheric shot.
I agree with Steffe. This place has a great survival record. It's also beautiful.
Amazing that it has survived so much, they sure don't build them like they used to!
I think you will be safe there!
Lovely. DOesn't really look like England, somehow .
Can the great unwashed simply wander in and about?
Also, meant to ask: who was Guy?
Looks too relaxing to be a hospital.
A nice bit of geometry here, with the diamonds, rectangles and semi-circles. Very nice composition, Mo.
I think I was taken here for someone to look at my tonsils! Great building & a very good idea to head there, Mo.
What a wonderful old building Mo, what a history, very impressive.. Love the composition of this shot looking through the arches.
I'm shocked it survived the Shard. Might've been worth about a few hundred million £s if they had needed the land.
Great PT department, by the way.
very nice place indeed !
this would be
