Something is happening inside the building with the lighthouse on top at Kings Cross. I poked my camera through a wee gap to see what was happening. No -one around to ask, scaffolding has gone up all around the outside. I'll keep you posted on progress.
As a 35mm film 'buff'; this screams out for old monochrome film treatment.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it's not an ART instalation!!! Very interesting ;)
ReplyDeleteOoh, how exciting, wonder what it will look like when it is done?
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing Mo, will be interested to see what comes about!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Mo unemployment in DC is about 10% but it varies a great deal by neighborhood.

ReplyDeleteI wrote about the Lighthouse in June, looking at plans for redevelopment which are actually quite cool. It'll be interesting to see if they actually go ahead now.
ReplyDeleteThe original tall chimney stacks are being replaced by an 'armadillo-like' zinc roof. Here is a link to four renders: http://www.latitudearchitects.com/architecture/commercial/the-lighthouse/
ReplyDeleteAnd here is a link giving one possible reason for the lighthouse's presence: "It is believed that the Lighthouse was built to advertise the ground floor Netten’s Oyster Bar and would light up when fresh oysters were being served." http://www.propertyweek.com/news/uk-real-estate-to-reignite-kings-cross-lighthouse/3138436.article
Love this shot!
