Tomorrow the Pearly community celebrates their annual harvest festival. A very colourful event steeped in tradition. Expect colourful costumes and maybe a Morris dance or two.

The mention of the London 'Pearlies' always makes me think me of the Beatles song 'I'm Only Sleeping' from the 'Revolver' album, which begins: 'When I wake a Pearly in the morning.....'
I can read "Pearly King of Islington". Well it is a Norwegian Princess living there too. Here name is Martha Louise. I guess she and her family are out watching:)

I have one picture of a few of these beautifully clad people that I took at Borough Market on one of my trips there. Those costumes must be heavy.

Gosh the 'pearlies' have been around forever hey Mo. I agree with Lucy, this lady is styling it big time!!
This finally made me look up their history, so fascinating! I love that pearly look, agree with others this lady looks great!
