ASK - Italian

Recently I went to ASK Italian for the launch of their 2013 menu created by chef Theo Randall and Jeena Rodrigues. It was full of a range of interesting italian goodies, like Panzerottini, as well as the classics we love and expect to see on Italian menus.

A friend was recently diagnosed as coeliac (gluten intolerant) and her first reaction was "oh that means no more italian food , and it's my favourite". Discreet sobbing could still be heard months later when Italian food made an appearance on TV cooking shows. But taaa daahh now she's happy again because ASK Italian have launched a gluten free menu, and coeliac's can also have a gluten free version of any pizza or pasta on the main menu. Perhaps it is the fact that Theo Randall's mother is coeliac that has driven this approach. Whatever the inspiration, one thing is for sure, this will make the ASK Italian restaurants popular destinations for a lot of coeliac's who until now could only stand outside staring lovingly at the menu, a tear trickling silently down their cheek.

If you are near Marble Arch and feel peckish drop into that ASK Italian and see if you can spot a coeliac while you too enjoy the menu.

This looks absolutely delicious! Amazing how many choices we have now, even with dietary limits (one of my friends has celiac too).

Brilliant, that's a good tip for me. Though I'm not confirmed coeliac I have learned I need to avoid gluten in things.

I like Italian food. These all look exceptionally yummy. I am struck how many people seem to have problems with gluten these days. No one had it (or knew that they had it) when I was growing up.
