A castle and rock climbing? What a surprise. Wandering around Hackney I stumbled upon a castle and went to investigate. The entire interior is rock climbing walls. There are walls for the complete novice and walls for the truly ambitious. They also run courses. I liked the sound of the women with altitude course.
Enthusiasts of the sport are pushing to get it into the 2020 Olympics.
Tried it once on rocks- confirmed I had vertigo. Hated it. I'll leave it to others.
ReplyDeleteI've tried this. It looks way easier than it really is.
ReplyDeleteI know I'll never be doing this Mo for the same reasons as John :)
ReplyDeleteTried it once with my mate Pete BECAUSE i had mild vertigo, cleared it up and had a great year climbing before life got in the way. Super sport.
ReplyDeleteGreat fun to watch but I really don't fancy it even with big squashy mattresses (I'd never get beyond novice stage!!)
ReplyDeleteNope. I don't have the balance or agility for this, not to mention the strength. And I'm not sure I'd trust it. Those grips up the side of the climb look like big wads of chewing gum to me!
ReplyDeleteNice shot but also happy to be on the ground:) Mr. L's sister loves doing this, in some alarming looking places in the Lake District and such.
ReplyDeleteMy kids have done this, and years ago I had to do some outdoor rock climbing as part of an Outward Bound leadership program. But, I would rather watch than participate. (Not a fan of heights . . . )
