The above ground, underground station of Edgeware Road. Confused? Much of London's underground is actually at ground level. This station was built as part of the Metropolitan line in 1863. It now serves the Circle, Hamersmith and City, and District lines.
It was the site of the London 2005 bombings, killing six people.
In recent weeks the messy construction site has revealed a building covered in these pretty tiles, turning the station platform into a much nicer place to wait for your train.
Fantastic tiles, Mo. Even after enlarging the photo, I can't decide if they are new or have been there for a while.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely and they will be durable too. I imagine no graffiti artist could access them to add embellishments either, which is good.
ReplyDeleteA little colour for the weary traveller . . .
ReplyDeleteLots to watch while you are waiting.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how long they've been there, what a love thing to uncover.
ReplyDeleteMaybe in real life the buildings are good to look at but (with the photo only to go on) I think I would find them overwhelming.
