Frontside Gardens

I've been exploring Hackney Wick an area close to the Olympic Park that is undergoing a rejuvenation and becoming the new funky place to be, supported in part by the London legacy development corporation. They invite groups to compete with ideas for projects for "meanwhile use" of demolished areas and empty spaces, using recycled materials.  Locals Frontside Gardens is a leader here with plans for an event space, first project is a skate park and coming soon market stalls and an outdoor cinema for summer.

Skate parks are a GREAT idea for underutilized city spaces. They absolutely get used and appreciated!

Nice capture of a young guy deep in concentration.

Tampa is embroiled in a skate park controversy right now as a historic section of town is trying to return to a period well before skaters took it over in the 1970's, they have been there since.
Hope both sides can come to some kind of compromise!
