The weeks of waiting over, the proud parents take their young ones out into the wide world. It's lucky that their parents are fiercely proud of them as they really are the ugliest babies on the water. How long does it take a swan to develop their first beautiful white feathers?
That is a good question. I photographed a few juvenile coots yesterday, not the cutest birds I have ever seen. Nice scene here.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they are so ugly, I have seen some cute ones here.
ReplyDeleteI agree with biebkriebels. The ones I see here are cute.
ReplyDeletePS: Don't let mother swan hear you say her babies are ugly. :)
They're not very pretty at the in between stage, but when they are newly hatched, cygnets are so cute!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful photo. I have been following 3 swan families here in Coventry. I'm thinking possibly a year for those feathers to turn white...not sure.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. I love how momma is leading the young ones and poppa is keeping his eye out for danger.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any on our canal this year. I think the geese have taken over.
ReplyDeleteNice pic and nice place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sight .... little cygnets aren't the prettiest of creatures but they sure are cute.
ReplyDelete"Adelaide and Beyond"
This is a beautifully atmospheric photo, Mo. Swans, baby swans and houseboats on a slow-moving English river.

ReplyDeleteI know, I know, some people say they're ugly, but I think they're cute :^)
