They are just starting similar bike lanes like this in Toronto. As a long time bus driver I agree that bus lanes were one of the best things that were done for road safety.
It is a struggle for transportation planners to fit cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians into narrow roads that were not designed with the contemporary transit means in mind. This bike lane looks good.
