Yesterday the front of Kings Cross Station was revealed and the new square in front of the station opened after four years of renovation and reconstruction. It is the first time since the station was build 150 years ago that we have been able to see the building as the original architect intended. One of London's busiest stations with 150,000 people passing through each day is becoming a joy to travel through, as each step of the multi million £ refurbishment is completed.
To celebrate opening of the new square this weekend there will be a carnival with rides, stall and entertainment all with a Victorian theme.

Great looking building
I'm not sure... I'm feeling nostalgic for the old station (c. 2004). I'd take the tube from Borough to Kings Cross, then walk about a 3 miles through the caverns to the Great Northern Tracks (St Albans). But if the ticket machine was in disrepair I'd have to climb the stairs up to the "Main Hall," which was about the size of the WHSmith news dealer inside Charing Cross.
On the other hand the buskers were usually above average and it made a middle-aged man feel positively trendy when they put up an advert for The Thrills' "new" album whilst I listened to it switching trains.
Aha, I found your blog again. I so enjoy your glimpses but you had somehow dropped off my news feeds. This was the last one I read ~ so I have a bit of catching up to do. Your glimpses make me so want to visit London.
