Westminster Cathedral

Westminster Cathedral is the largest Catholic church in England and Wales.  Often overlooked by tourists who visit Westminster Abbey of the Church of England just up the road.

Not my favourite bit of London architecture; it has that 'layer-cake' look about it.

I passed this place for years without knowing what it was, but actually think it's rather splendid - particularly given the frame of that part of Victoria Street...of course, the one down the road started off RC.

I came across this one cold evening when I was there in November. I took a photo of it but, it was dark and raining so it isn't the best shot. I'm glad you've posted this because I had no idea what it was and now I do.

This caused problems when opened. Nobody was keen on a RC cathedral and they did not wish the name 'London' to be used. So they called it 'Westminster,' and upset everyone!

I like the look of it.

Nice. The castle is so stunning. Must have been gorgeous in person.

Overlooked by me too, I'm afraid. What an curious and exotic-looking building it is - I'd never have guessed it was an RC church.

I was there last time I was in London. Went to to tower and had a lovely view of the city.
