Bobbies

A London souvenir for the kids.  Why is it that young boys (and it does seem to be mainly boys) want to be a policeman or a fireman?  And in case you're wondering why an English policeman is known as a bobbie, the nickname came about as the London Police force was created by an act of parliament in1829 by Sir Robert Peel.

At some point I'd heard the origin of the term, but it's been awhile.

I mused about going into policing, though ended up going into different fields.
