The Kiwi Block

Do you recall my Block 91 project? (A refresher look here.) On one of my journeys out on the edge, I ventured a little further from my page (91) and found a couple of blocks of streets all devoted to New Zealand.  From NZ way there are streets bearing the name of various cities; Christchurch St, Auckland St, etc.  In addition there are apartments named after towns like Napier and New Plymouth.  How this came about I am still investigating.

  1. Interesting that the area has taken on New Zealand theme.

  3. Perhaps a nod to veterans of one or the other of the World Wars who came up that way? There's a whole neighbourhood here that has street names with such a theme.

  4. I have often run across places where a cluster of street names recalls a particular city or country, usually English, French or Italian (or, in the case of German Village in Columbus, Ohio, German). But, I have not run across a cluster of New Zealand streets. A mystery.
