All that remains of the old West India Quays are a couple of cranes and the warehouse that now houses the Museum of London (Docklands), where my visit took me. It all seems so tiny compared with the towering bank and insurance buildings that now surround it.
During the 19th century this area was the hub of activity for the trade of mainly sugar from the West Indies. This came to a grinding halt during WWII when the area was totally destroyed by German bombs. It remained derelict for decades until the refurbishment in the 2000's as the new banking area of London.

Keep the cranes, demolish the buildings.
Quite a strong contrast!
This area is such a huge contrast to the rest of London.
So much has changed in the Dockland area of London.
I remember the docks Mo, all those ships and cranes. It's a fabulous shot, super contrast between the buildings and cranes, lovey stuff...
