Mistletoe

Pretty bunches of mistletoe hang from the ceiling in the market at Covent Garden this Xmas.  There ought to be dozens of kissing couples beneath their branches.  Where did that custom originate?

I'm not sure how the tradition got started but I do like how this looks.

So where are the couples kissing. By the way, the custom originated with Charley Sheen, only he said you don't need mistletoe and you don't stop at kissing! :)

Seems like nobody there can remember what it's for!

What is wrong with those British lads? A good excuse for some free smooches and none taking advantage of all the mistletoe?

Ooh is it real mistletoe? That would be nice. I prefer natural decorations to plastic ones.

I remember at some point I've heard the answer to that, but off hand at present I can't recall!
