More from Vaisakhi

Part of the festivities of the Vaisakhi festival was the National Army Museum's "War and Sikhs" community outreach project with Khalsa warriors dressed in their WW1 uniforms.  Although Sikhs are opposed to war they made a significant contribution in both the world wars.

From what little I've read about the Sikhs there's always a lot of warlike symbolism which seems directly at odds with the original teachings of Guru Nanak. One day I shall try to find out more....

An excellent portrait. Our new minister of defense is a Sikh, with an exemplary background as a military officer- he did tours of duty in Afghanistan.
