There are lots of urban myths about why shoes are tossed in tress or over power lines including, drug dealers nearby or lost virginity, however it is probably more a copycat action or in this case urban art.
i have never heard stories like this before, so I have learned something new now. From time to time I see a shoe hanging strange places. I will guarantied think of this image.

I knew about the power line- drug dealer story, but not about doing this where trees are concerned. Still, it looks more like an art installation.
